🤔 Is This Right for Me?

This course is for you if you already know the basics of Catalan but feel like you’re stuck at beginner level.

You might:

  • understand quite a lot when listening or reading

  • be able to talk about yourself in simple terms

  • but struggle to speak fluidly or combine ideas

In A2.1, we focus on helping you expand your vocabulary and grammar so you can:

  • use different tenses together (past, present, future)

  • speak in longer, more natural sentences

  • talk about real-life topics with more confidence

  • stop translating everything word-for-word in your head

This level is ideal if you’ve completed A1 (or equivalent) and want to move from “I know the basics” to “I can actually express myself in Catalan.”

If you’re unsure about your level, this short quiz might help determine whether it's right for you:

Meet your teacher...

Hola, soc la Christina! La teva professora! 👩‍🏫

With a lifelong passion for languages and over 12 years of tutoring experience, I’ve spent the last 6 years teaching languages in schools. Whether it's teaching Catalan, Spanish, French, or German, I’ve worked with students of all levels, and I’ve seen firsthand how much we can achieve when we collaborate and learn together.

Throughout my career, I've learned that the best way to make language learning both effective and enjoyable is through personalised, interactive, and engaging lessons. That’s why I’m so excited to now bring this approach into group classes for Catalan. The energy and support that comes with learning in a group setting is something really special, and I can’t wait to help you experience that!

My teaching philosophy is rooted in understanding how we best learn. I’m passionate about applying insights from my background in Psychology to help students not only master a language but enjoy the process. It’s about making language learning accessible, engaging, and fun.

I’m thrilled to be taking this next step with you and can’t wait to see how you progress in my group programme!

Frequently asked questions

How many people will be in the group?

Classes will be kept small, with 3-6 participants per group. This ensures that you have plenty of opportunity to practice speaking and receive personalized attention. You’ll be with the same group of learners and teacher for the full 12 weeks, allowing you to build connections and friendships along the way!

Do I need to know any Catalan before joining?

This programme is ideal for someone who already knows the basics of Catalan and can communicate in every day situations.

The previous A1 programme covers topics such as introducing yourself, numbers/age, where you're from, where you live, family, descriptions, hobbies, work, animals, daily routine, opinions on food, ordering at a restaurant, talking about clothes including at the clothes shop, describing your house, telling the time, talking about future holiday plans.

If you do not feel confident with these topics, feel free to check out our A1.1 or A1.2 programmes.

What if I miss a class?

If you miss a class, don’t worry—you’ll receive a video recording and the class materials to catch up. You can always reach out to your teacher for extra support.

How will the classes be structured?

Each class will focus on a specific theme or topic, combining listening, speaking, with little focus on grammar. You’ll have plenty of opportunities to practice speaking in a relaxed, interactive setting. Classes will often build from previous learning to ensure plenty of spaced retrieval and interleaving. Plus, there will be fun activities like role plays and games to make learning enjoyable!
